SCOTLAND are looking to reach the Rugby World Cup quarter-finals – but it is not going to be easy.
With hosts Japan already shocking one of the favourites to win the tournament, Ireland, Gregor Townsend’s men now face a big fight in their final two matches to get through.
It is safe to say that Scotland need a miracle and to win both of their matches.
Yet, that would not even secure them safe passage to the quarter-finals.
Japan secured a bonus point victory over Samoa, meaning they are left on 14 points with one match to go.
And that final game is against Scotland, who are currently nine points behind the Japanese.
A bonus-point win over Russia – which Japan, Ireland and Samoa have all managed so far – would set up a huge game in Yokohama City.
Should Scotland achieve their bonus-point victory against Russia, they will need to do one of the following:
Japanese time in brackets.
Friday, September 20: Japan 30-10 Russia
Sunday, September 22: Ireland 27-3 Scotland
Tuesday, September 24: Russia 9-34 Samoa
Saturday, September 28: Japan 19-12 Ireland
Monday, September 30: Scotland 34-0 Samoa
Thursday, October 3: Ireland 35-0 Russia
Saturday, October 5: Japan 38-19 Samoa
Wednesday, October 9: Scotland vs Russia – 8.15am (4.15pm)
Saturday, October 12: Ireland vs Samoa – 11.45am (7.45pm)
Sunday, October 13: Japan vs Scotland – 11.45am (7.45pm)
