BARCELONA star Ousmane Dembele could miss El Clasico after calling a referee “very bad”.
The winger was sent off during his team’s 4-0 thrashing of Sevilla at the weekend.
In the official’s report it was revealed that the 22-year-old Frenchman was dismissed for telling ref Antonio Miguel Mateu Lahoz: “very bad, you’re very bad”.
It was a reaction to seeing his team-mate Ronaldo Araujo also shown a red card.
This would normally result in an automatic one-match ban, but as reported by Marca, there is some inconsistency concerning the offence.
Diego Costa received an EIGHT-MATCH ban last season for insulting a referee.
Deportivo La Coruna’s Michael Krohn-Deli was handed a two-match ban for insulting an official during the 2018/19 campaign.
Gabriel Pires and Fabian Orellana were also suspended for the same duration of time.
If Dembele has his suspension increased, it would mean he misses out on their next La Liga against Eibar on October 19 AND the mouthwatering clash against Real Madrid on October 26.
Dembele’s dismissal wasn’t the only talking point from the game.
Gerard Pique was accused of deliberately getting booked to avoid the risk of being suspended for El Clasico.
The defensive powerhouse, 32, picked up his fifth yellow for the season for booting the ball away late in a 4-0 rout.
Marca is reporting that Pique intentionally gave ref Miguel Antonio Mateu Lahoz no choice but to book him last night.
Last February, Los Blancos skipper Sergio Ramos was handed a two-match ban by Uefa for “for clearly receiving a yellow card on purpose” in a last-16 showdown with Ajax.
Ramos fouled Kasper Dolberg in the 89th minute of the first leg, with his side 2-1 ahead.
He later admitted: “I would be lying if I said I didn’t force [the booking]”.
