THE Apprentice will be back on our screens in a matter of days as it returns with the upcoming series on Wednesday, 2 October, 2019.
And as usual its spinoff show The Apprentice: You’re Hired will also return with new host comedian Tom Allen taking over from Rhod Gilbert at the helm – here’s all the info you need to know…
On You’re Fired, a panel of celebrity guests and business experts recap and dissect the latest episode and interview the fired contestant.
The Apprentice: You’re Fired airs on Wednesday nights on BBC Two at 10:05pm, immediately after the main show.
The half hour episode is then available to watch on demand via the BBC iPlayer service.
The Apprentice: You’re Hired (usually Fired) is the special of the spin-off show to the BBC’s business based reality show, The Apprentice.
During the final episode, the host is joined by the winner and runner-up of the hit show, while Lord Sugar is also on hand to explain his decision.
It broadcasts straight after the main show, at 10.05pm on BBC One, and lasts for an hour, rather than the usual 30 minutes.
No, not any longer!
Welsh comedian Rhod Gilbert has been replaced by funnyman and Bake Off: Extra Slice host Tom Allen.
Rhod had previously taken over hosting duties for The Apprentice: You’re Fired in 2016.
Rhod can often be seen making guest appearances on shows including 8 Out of Ten Cats Does Countdown, The One Show, Mock the Week and Have I Got News For You.
The Apprentice: You’re Fired was previously hosted by Adrian Chiles (2006 – 2009), Dara O Briain (2010 – 2014) and Jack Dee (2015).
The Apprentice: You’re Fired features a studio audience and you can be in the studio.
Applications are taken via the show’s official website.
The Apprentice: You’re Fired is filmed at The London Studios and you must be over the age of 18 to attend.
Each series of The Apprentice begins with ten contestants – five men and five women, claiming to be the cream of entrepreneurial talent – being shoved into a posh house in London.
Then once a week they are woken up early, sent to a mystery location and split into two teams, with one of Lord Sugar’s aids spying on each.
The teams are given identical tasks and must assign a team leader and other roles before getting down to work.
As the teams compete against each other to see who can, usually, make the most dough, weaknesses inevitably appear in the teams’ infrastructures.
Sometimes their tasks last a day, sometimes they last longer – all we know is that at the end, one of the contestants from the losing team “will get fired.”
The episodes culminate in a nail-biting boardroom meeting, with Lord Sugar and his aids announcing the winning team, who are sent off to enjoy a prize.
After a tough discussion with the losing gang, Lord Sugar tells the team leader to bring back two people to the boardroom, and at least one of those three ends up getting sent home in a black cab.
“Fired” contestants are brought back to help in the final tasks.
The overall series winner is the contestant who survives until the end – and impresses Lord Sugar with their business idea.
Before the competitors reach that stage they must have a terrifying job interview with business experts, who pick their CVs apart like a plate of nachos.
The most recent winners have been Alana Spencer, Joseph Valente, Mark Wright, Leah Totton, Ricky Martin and last year’s winner Sian Gabbidon.
