DAN Edgar reveals he almost quit Towie over his explosive fall out with ex Chloe Sims – who he now thinks “hates” him.
The reality star considered walking away from his dream job on the show after the row with Chloe and former close friends Pete Wicks and Diags, but changed his mind after a summer away with Amber Turner.
Speaking for the first time about the row, he says: “I admit I considered whether it was possibly time to move on from TOWIE over the Chloe situation.
“I did think it was getting a bit heavy and maybe I should take some time out.
“It was a bit much for a few months but by the time we had our summer break I was in a good place and wanted to come back.”
He’s now back on the cast – alongside Chloe AND his ex Amber, who he dumped Chloe for in dramatic on-screen scenes last series.
“Looking back of course I regret some of my behaviour,” he says. “Not only has it caused murders [problems] for a number of people I have also lost two really close friends because of it. It is really sad that we all drifted apart.”
The fall out all started back in February when long-term mates Chloe and Dan got together on a cast trip to Thailand.
After a fling – in which Chloe told Dan she loved him – Dan dumped Chloe to go back to his ex girlfriend Amber Turner, causing a huge fall out with their mutual friends Pete and Diags.
“My feelings for Chloe were genuine. At that moment in time I thought it was the right thing to do,” Dan says.
“Looking back there are a lot of things I wish I had done differently but at the time I felt it was right and I stayed true to myself throughout.
“When I was with Chloe I still had a lot of feelings still for Amber and in hindsight I probably shouldn’t have got involved with Chloe feeling like that.
“Even though Amber and I stopped talking there was still unfinished business there. So as soon as Chloe and I decided it wasn’t going to work I was back in touch with Amber and I can see how that would be perhaps difficult for Chloe.
“Chloe hates me because of what’s happened and I get that. I would obviously like to mend the friendship at some point but at the moment I need to be respectful to the situation and Amber and stay away.”
And Dan now insists that he’s happy with Amber – despite their rocky past.
“We have obviously had a rocky past. We’ve had a lot of ups and downs but we are really happy.
“I am confident about our relationship. When we first got back together I will admit it was hard.
“Every time we had a little row it brought up everything that’s happened in the past but we seem to have moved past the anger now.
“I realise I have to expect it and give her leeway on certain things that maybe I would have reacted to before.”
And the reality star, who also dated Kate Wright, insists he doesn’t miss his single days.
“I don’t miss them. I had fun. I needed period to go out and have some time with my mates,” he says.
“I’ve had a lot of stick for things I’ve done and got a bit of a bad reputation but when I am actually in a committed relationship I am a good boy.”
And even though Dan says he’s now mended his relationships with Pete and Diags, Chloe’s cousin Joey Essex still hates him.
“He has a certain view on it. I would love to be mates with him again. I miss him,” Dan admits.
“He is a very loyal and protective person. At the moment he is still angry and protecting Chloe which I understand. I hope in time we can sort it out.”
