Billie and the 53-year-old DJ married in a secret ceremony in Las Vegas in 2001 after six months of dating.
They separated in 2004 and divorced in May 2007 but remained good friends.
He appeared astonished when Billie appeared on the show, telling her: “I didn’t even know you were coming on until I arrived this morning and saw your name on the board outside.”
Billie replied: “How do you not know what’s happening on your own show?”

Referring to his assistant, Hiten Vora, he replied: “Well because you were not booked until yesterday afternoon by The Frothy Coffee Man.
“But to be honest the more genuine reason is I never know what’s happening on the show.”
She replied: “Which is why it’s so good.”
The pair then swapped compliments with her telling him: “You look great. I like your specs.”

Chris said: “You look great too, through my specs. This is all good already.”
Billie was on the hit radio show to promote her first film as a director, Rare Beasts.
She said: “I described it as a pitch black comedy because I think there’s a version of this film that is really, really bleak. But my version, the visual language feels really exciting.
“But basically, I mean broadly speaking, it’s about a female nihilist trying to navigate life, love, work and reclaimed feminism.”
The Chris Evans Virgin Breakfast Show with Sky is on every weekday from 6:30am
