JOE COKANASIGA is targeting glory at this autumn’s World Cup.
The giant England winger has exploded onto the international scene in 2019 – and is one of the fastest players ever to feature for the Red Rose.
THE England star has been named in Eddie Jones’ 31-man squad as they look for a first World Cup since 2003.
Real name Ratu Josateki Tuivanuavou Waqanivalu Cokanasiga, the Red Rose star was born in Fiji and stands at imposing 6ft4.
He has been compared to New Zealand great Jonah Lomu as both men share a similar stature and speed, each topping the scales around 18 stone.
The Bath star has clocked in some serious times for the 50m dash – and was found to be running at over 10 metres per second.
That makes him faster than England flyers Anthony Watson and Jonathan Joseph.
And speedier even than Ireland’s wing Jacob Stockdale, who has been clocked at travelling 9.97 metres per season.
England’s fastest player is Jonny May was clocked in 2017 at 10.49 metres per second in a 40-metre speed test.
He’s been impressed by Cokasaniga’s talent and raw speed, revealing: “Joe is very gifted athletically and he’s also a huge bloke. He’s strong and very, very fast. He has got the world at his feet, really.
“For a winger, that athletic ability is huge and then on top of that you’ve got to build your smartness and your game understanding. He’s continuing to do that.”
