A MUM has wowed DIY fans by totally transforming her staircase for just £65.
The woman, called Sharon, has revealed how she was able to get the amazing results using just a few items, including glossy paint, disused carpet swatches, quirky wallpaper and a heart-shaped charity shop lamp.
She shared pictures of her impressive handiwork on the Extreme Couponing and Bargains UK group on Facebook.
They show how her previously bleak staircase has been changed into a colourful homely space with the addition of pretty lanterns and old bottles containing fairy lights.
Captioning the post, Sharon wrote: “My hallway make over on my stairs and landing.
“Painted the stairs with water based gloss 28.99 done all upstairs floorboards too with the same tin.
“The carpet treads were from a carpet shop book bought for 1.00.
“Bought a tin of carpet adhesive for 8.99 in B&Q, they are all slightly different shades but can’t tell.
“Been down a year now and still looking good.
“Edit paint on walls teal topaz B&M and wallpaper was B&Q.”
With the paint costing £28.99, the pieces of carpet £1 and the carpet adhesive £8.99, she was initially set back just £39.
We estimate that she then spent around £12 on wallpaper from B&Q and £11 on paint from B&M, and she also later revealed the heart-shaped light on the wall was £3 from a charity shop – bringing her total to a relatively affordable £65.
Fellow Facebook users rushed to compliment her on the gorgeous finish – and the post has already received more than 600 likes.
One person wrote: “This is lovely.”
Another commented: “Looks stunning.”
A third shared: “Looks beautiful, love that wallpaper.”
And a fourth added: ” I’m planning something similar. Really nice.”
