EVERTON star Richarlison has been trolled for his over-the-top celebration – after scoring against Lincoln in the Carabao Cup.
The Brazilian netted to put Everton 4-2 up against their League One opposition, and proceeded to rip off his shirt.
Running over to the visiting fans, the 22-year-old held it up after seeing his bullet header fly into the goal.
Unsurprisingly, the frontman copped a load of grief for his actions on social media, and on two counts.
Firstly some fans mocked the striker believing he had been trying to copy Lionel Messi‘s iconic celebration.
The Barca star is well known for taking off his shirt and showing his adoring fans the No10 and his name.
Richarlison’s effort, however, saw him holding the shirt the wrong way round.
He has, however, performed his own version of Messi’s celebration before, showing the badge on the front to the supporters.
But it was the fact that he went so OTT for scoring a fourth goal against lowly Lincoln that had fans in hysterics.
Adam Fulwell wrote that “football is finished”, while another labelled it “absolutely embarrassing”.
Harry Heskey posted that it was “the type of s***housery I’m looking for”, and Will Major simply wrote “please no”.
Others hailed the player’s selflessness for showing off the club crest and not his name to the away end.
Adam Seymour wrote: “Richarlison showing off the badge on the shirt, club before player. So him.”
And Simon Wakenshaw added: “No Richarlison did not do the Messi celebration.
“He showed the fans the Everton side not his name on the back.”
Richarlison was booked for his actions.
And maybe he will be doing it all over again if he scores in the Premier League clash at home to Wolves at the weekend.
