ARSENAL have already released three different kits for their 2019/20 campaign and worn two of them in competitive matches but it appears there is more to come from the club shop.
The Gunners ditched shirt sponsors Puma after last season to sign a five-year, £300million deal with Adidas and fans were delighted to see the famous three stripes on the shoulder of the red home kit.
The away kit was released with a retro ‘bruised banana’ design in blue and yellow while the third kit, likely to be used in cup competitions, is a dark blue with yellow detail.
However, Adidas’ James Webb dropped a hint at the launch of the third strip earlier this month that there would be a fourth kit released later in the season.
“Yeah, there’s something in the pipeline. I don’t want to give anything away,” Webb said.
“Clubs are signing different sponsorship with FIFA or Konami for instance and we have to respect the partnerships there.
“The collection of jerseys that were released last season, they all fit under the FIFA umbrella, but now you see teams like Juventus stepping out.”
Arsenal unveiled their navy third kit one day into the new season, selling it exclusively through Adidas and their club shop for the first week of its release, suggesting that any further releases would be similarly staggered.
But product designer for licensed apparel Webb, who is in charge of the jerseys Arsenal will wear in the first three years of the Adidas deal, refused to be drawn on exactly when yet another Gunners shirt might come out.
Adidas did though confirm that designs for next year’s kit have already been completed so the fourth strip for this year could emerge sooner rather than later.
It is possible that the fourth kit released by Adidas will be a purely promotional shirt, sold by the club but never worn by the Arsenal players.
That would certainly mirror the fourth shirts released by Juventus, Manchester United, Bayern Munich and Real Madrid last year, that only appeared in FIFA.
However, Adidas appear keen to avoid going down a similar route with a more traditional design likely.
Webb said: “There is something in the pipeline, but it’s geared towards Arsenal, not FIFA.”
One fan on Twitter going by the name Devin Roberts even believes he has found a leaked picture of the new kit, asking the official account to verify the depiction on social media.
The shirt in question is a dark gold colour with the famous Arsenal cannon super imposed in silhouette.
Another account – ACL_Soccer – also posted an alleged leak, a purple kit with black geometric designs across it.
However, neither strip has been confirmed or denied by any club official.
