THE heartwarming moment Steve Irwin’s daughter Bindi became engaged has been captured in a series of stunning photos taken by her brother Robert.
Bindi said she had no idea the proposal would take place at her family’s zoo and on her 21st birthday, describing it as the “most beautiful surprise”.
The conservationist and daughter of the late ‘Crocodile Hunter’ Steve Irwin has been dating her partner Chandler Powell for the past six years.
But she had no idea that her award-winning wildlife photographer brother Robert, 15, was across the park taking the sweet pics.
Bindi shared the heartwarming images with her fans on Thursday, revealing: “Chandler and Robert worked together to capture the moment I said ‘YES’. We were in the gardens of Australia Zoo and it was beyond perfect.
“I never even knew Robert was there photographing and I’ll always be grateful to have these special memories of the most amazing day of my life.”
In the photos, Bindi looks visibly surprised as Chandler bends down on one knee to present her with the ring, before the beaming couple share an intimate embrace.
The TV star, who is the daughter of the late wildlife expert Steve Irwin, announced the news on Instagram.
Bindi wrote: “July 24th 2019. On my birthday I said ‘yes’ and ‘forever’ to the love of my life.
“Chandler, close to 6 years ago I fell in love with you and every day since has been a whirlwind of adventure and true happiness.
“I’m so looking forward to spending our forever together as your wife.
“Here’s to a lifetime of friendship, purpose and unconditional love — now let’s get married already!”
She also shared two photos of the couple, in which she is wearing a large engagement ring.
Powell also shared his excitement, revealing he proposed to her in her family’s Australia Zoo.
He wrote: “She said YES! Almost 6 years ago we met at Australia Zoo.
“I immediately fell head over heels for her kind and thoughtful heart that radiates so much light.
“Proposing in her very favourite place in the zoo, surrounded by animals, seemed like the perfect way to embark on this incredible new chapter in our lives.
“Bee, I love you more than anything in this world and I always will. Happy Birthday.”
Bindi Irwin was eight years old when her father was killed by a stingray in September 2006 at the age of just 44, pierced in the heart by a barb while filming an underwater documentary film Ocean’s Deadliest.
Bindi has continued to work at the zoo founded by her late dad and mum Terri Irwin in 1970, and posts regular pictures of animals at the zoo in Queensland, Australia.
The fearless animal lover is determined to continue her family’s conservation work — with hair-raising photos showing she spent her 19th birthday feeding crocodiles.
Her younger brother Robert Irwin is a television personality and photographer, while alongside conservation work Bindi has also worked as an actor, television personality, singer and dancer.
