UNSIGNED singer Luke Burr admits he’s still buzzing and has hardly slept since Love Island helped catapult him to the top of the Shazam chart.
The 22-year-old sent fans of the show into meltdown with his cover of What You Won’t Do For Love and got a whopping 25,000 searches on platform, as they clamoured to find out what the song was called before the episode had even ended.

Speaking exclusively to The Sun Online, Luke said: “I’ve hardly slept, I keep waking up at 5/6 am, thinking what can I do today, what can I create, how can I capitalise, what song can I do next.
“It’s exciting to finally get a big win. It does feel great because this industry can chew you up and make you feel quite low. I’m on a big high right now.”
The Essex lad, who has had support from Towie stars Sam Faiers, Jess Wright and Ferne McCann, revealed he learnt his cover was playing on Love Island as he was about to go on stage to perform at a gig in Shoreditch.
He said: “My friend texted me saying you know you’re on love island and someone had mentioned it earlier on in the day and said we think that they liked the song, they might play it but I wasn’t sure.

“Then my friend sent me a little video and, I was like about to go on stage and there was like 15 seconds of it, I was like ‘oh wow, cool,’ I was buzzing.
“Then I got another video, and my phone just blew up. I watched another video off someone and I couldn’t believe how much of the song they’d played.”
Luke got signed at 18 but when he was dropped a few years later it really knocked his confidence.
He explained: “Going through that process and bashing down doors and feeling like you’re getting nowhere… it’s a passion, but it’s also an obsession for me.
“Music gives me the biggest highs that nothing else can give me, it’s probably also given me the biggest lows as well, I’ve been so obsessed.”
The singer-songwriter revealed that he is truly grateful for the opportunity that the popular ITV2 show has given him.
He continued: “I’ve put so much pressure on myself to achieve as much as I can, when I feel like I’m not maybe getting what I deserve, it’s tough.
“Now it’s really nice to have all these messages, that I know didn’t believe in me a few months ago, to now be championing me, it’s a really great feeling.

“I didn’t expect the first platform I would get would be this big, I thought it would take a little longer, to be fair, when I saw it was climbing the charts, reaching number one on the Shazam charts, I was just I’m blown away.
“I just really want to capitalise on this moment and I don’t want it to be a little five minute of fame. If it’s that, it’s not worth it for me. I just want to use this platform as something that’s going to catapult my career to bigger heights.”
Luke admitted that he is the only musical person in his family – and they didn’t know how to showcase his talent as it came as such a shock.
He entered a talent show at 13, calling it the best decision he could have made.
“When I started singing,my dad was like ‘I think he can sing’, but they didn’t really know it.
The star has also worked with different producers and has a great band that have helped him achieve his dreams[/caption]
“I entered a little talent competition when I was 13, and I won it. From that moment, I was like I can do this, and this is all I want to do.”
Over the coming months Luke has some exciting things coming up and he is looking forward riding the wave that he’s currently on, such as filming more content and creating more music.
“As soon as this wave starts to trickle, I’m going to drop my own music of my own material and potentially an EP,” he said.
“I’m wanting to announce a tour, and now I have a bit more ammo behind me, so hopefully we can secure a support tour and I feel like I’m ready for this moment.”
