ERIC BAILLY had to be stretchered off in Manchester United’s friendly win over Spurs – sparking desperate calls for the club to sign Harry Maguire.
A moment of trickery from Son Heung-min had the defender in a twist during Thursday’s friendly, which ended 2-1 to United.
As the South Korean forward looked to shoot, he feinted and caused Bailly to hurt his knee.
Collapsing onto the floor immediately, the Ivorian had to be carried off and went straight down the tunnel.
He had only arrived in the game eight minutes beforehand, coming on as a half-time substitute.
Naturally, it led to United fans urging their club to sign up their No1 target: centre-back Harry Maguire.
One fan, Rob, joked on Twitter: “That’s now £90-100m for Harry Maguire is it? As you were lads.”
Michael reacted to the news with: “Harry Maguire anyone?”
Another fan, James, added: “Bailey injured AGAIN FFS. Need to get Maguire in ASAP. Smalling & Jones ain’t good enough plus they’re always injured too which leaves us with Axel and Lindelof, sort it.”
Bailly has suffered a number of injury issues in his time at Old Trafford.
Knee and ankle problems have continually popped up, restricting him to 12 Premier League apperances last season.
In fact, he only featured once after coming off injured in United’s famous Champions League comeback against Paris Saint-Germain on March 6.
And in that appearance, versus Chelsea in April, he picked up another knee problem and missed the Africa Cup of Nations as a result.
The Red Devils’ pursuit of Maguire relies on them finding an agreement with Leicester City.
With two weeks to go until the transfer deadline, the Foxes are reported to be holding out for upwards of £80million for the 26-year-old.
