A FOOTBALL star from Malawi picked up an unusual award for his starring performance on the weekend: a live chicken.
Having bagged two goals for Premier Division side Nyasa Big Bullets, Hassan Kajoke was handed the hen by a fan.
What’s more, the eager supporter even spray painted the team’s colours onto the chicken.
The fan had asked permission to present the award on the pitch and brought it on in a cardboard box decorated with Kajoke’s name.
And the player appeared taken aback as he accepted the honour following Big Bullets’ 5-0 win over Karonga United.
African football is credited with going a different way to the standard, boring Man of the Match awards seen in the Premier League.
Champagne bottles and golden trinkets have been swapped for prizes such as beer, sandals, and even phone data.
That said, in 2016/17 the Premier League was lambasted for its award.
