ARSENAL have reportedly offered Crystal Palace a potential £60m plus Reiss Nelson on loan for a season for Wilfried Zaha.
However, the Gunners’ attempt to land the Ivory Coast international has been rejected as the Eagles look for £80m up front.
That’s according to The Independent, who claim Unai Emery was willing to allow his young hotshot Nelson to go to Selhurst Park.
Arsenal have been chasing Zaha all summer and have already had one offer turned down for the winger.
After missing out on Champions League qualification, Emery only has a limited transfer budget to play with this window.
And he will be priced out of a deal for Zaha unless he can convince Palace to accept less money up front.
The Spaniard is hoping to use players as make-weights to try and tempt the South London side to do business.
And that is believed to have led to Nelson being included in their latest attempt to get Zaha.
Arsenal allegedly offered £50m cash with a further £10m in add-ons plus the 19-year-old’s services for 12 months.
Fellow youngster Bukayo Saka and defender Carl Jenkinson are other names that have been mentioned – although the latter’s would be a permanent switch.
Brazilian Gabriel Martinelli is the only new arrival at the Emirates so far this window and fed-up fans are growing disgruntled at the lack of funding being made available by the board.
But owner Stan Kroenke’s son Josh recently told supporters to be optimistic.
Speaking to the club’s website, he said: “I would say be excited.
“There are a few things that I know our group are working on, and a few things we hopefully have on the doorstep.
“Nothing is ever a done deal until it’s a done deal, obviously, but we know we have key areas we want to address in our squad, both now and in the future.
“Our entire football operations staff have a great grasp on that and I’ve encouraged them to be as aggressive as possible.”
