AMAZON has gone down for some customers in the USA as the retailer’s Prime Day deals event rages on.
It means some deal-hunters could miss out on bargains during the two-day event.
Hundreds of confused Amazon customers have reported issues with the mega-retailer on outage tracker DownDetector.
Most of the complaints relate to the website not working (51%), log in problems (25%) and check-out issues (23%).
The problems seem to primarily affect the USA’s East Coast, although the West Coast is only just waking up.
According to the tracker, issues with Amazon began at around 8am Los Angeles time, 11am New York time and 4pm London time.
Importantly, the outage only seems to be affecting some customers.
The Sun was able to access Amazon.com from New York with no issues.
And the issue does not appear to be affecting the Amazon UK website.
Today is Amazon Prime Day, a deals event where prices are slashed for Amazon Prime members.
It’s a huge day for sales: marketing firm IgnitionOne experts Amazon to generate $6.1billion (£4.9billion) in sales on Prime Day 2019.
Customers flocking to Amazon.com for bargains only to find a broken site are expressing their disappointment on Twitter.
One angry user wrote: “Amazon, hey if you’re gonna have a prime day…making sure your effing website/app doesn’t go down…can’t add anything to cart.”
Amazon hasn’t released an official statement on the apparent outage.
And Amazon’s support account on Twitter is silent on the issue.
We’ve asked Amazon for comment and will update this story with any response.
