EZRI KONSA says he can’t wait to compete with the cream of Premier League strikers – a year after he was playing in League One with Charlton.
The Brentford defender became Aston Villa boss Dean Smith’s SEVENTH signing of a frantic summer as the big-spenders continue to build at breakneck speed.
And for Konsa it was a case of deja vu after Smith signed him for a second summer in a row.
Following his arrival – taking Villa’s spending beyond £80million – the defender, 21, told AVTV: “To be honest I’m speechless right now.
“To be here and working with Dean and Richard O’Kelly again is a good feeling. I enjoyed it with them at Brentford and I am raring to go now.
To join such a historic, massive club like Aston Villa is great. I can’t wait to meet the lads now and get started.
“It’s a dream come true. As a little kid, I always used to dream about playing in the Premier League.
“For it to come true now is a fantastic feeling for me and my family.
“I am looking forward to the challenge of facing the top players in the world.”
Smith signed the youngster from Charlton last June and he became a huge hit with the Bees, breaking into Aidy Boothroyd’s England Under-21s last season.
His arrival for £12m will give Smith the option of playing with three at the back as the Villa boss values his ability on the ball as a right-sided central defender.
