THE Wokingham Stakes is an absolute cavalry charge, but who will our top tipsters be backing?
With tips from our very own Templegate, Matt Chapman and the latest race trends, we’ve got the all-important views on each race right here.
Templegate – Summerghand
His come-from-the-rear hold-up tactics aren’t suited to Newmarket and he should find this race playing to his strengths with plenty of pace across the track.
Matt Chapman – Cape Byron
Corinthia Knight is a strong favourite, but I will have a few quid each-way on CAPE BYRON, who runs over six furlongs for the first time in his life. He was a terrific winner of the Victoria Cup at this track for Roger Varian and Andrea Atzeni and will be coming home strongest of all despite a 4lb rise in the weights for that latest victory.
The one I like each-way is last year’s French-trained runner-up CITY LIGHT, who likes to come from off the pace and stays strongly. He returned to form with a decent comeback at Maisons-Laffitte last time and this time last year went desperately close to winning the big prize. Conditions are ideal for another huge effort.
Wizard Of Odds – Vanbrugh
VANBRUGH had plenty of decent form in France for Andre Fabre and has shown up well since moving across the Channel to join Charlie Hills.
He won easily in minor company at Thirsk before running well in a Haydock Listed race last time out. He showed lots of pace there but he was put in front too far from home and was just run out of it in the closing stages.
Trends – Soldier’s Minute
We have cut the massive field down to Tis Marvellous, Summerghand and Soldier’s Minute.
You could back all three and make a nice profit but SOLDIER’S MINUTE was very impressive at York last time and could have a perfect draw in stall 29.
