JESS Glynne burst onto the music scene collaborating with Clean Bandit on the hit track Rather Be and Rudimental’s dance song These Days but has also had great success as a solo artist.
However, she hit a bump note in her career when she pulled out of her performance at the Isle of Wight festival 2019 moments before she was due on stage. Here is everything you need to know about the talented singer-songwriter.
Jess Glynne, 29, is from Hampstead, London.
Her dad is an estate agent while her mother worked in the music industry – giving Jess a valuable insight into her future.
When she was 15 she enter The X Factor but dropped out during the auditions after an argument with the producers.
In 2013 she signed a deal with Atlantic Records and quit her job in brand management for a drinks company.
The popstar was scheduled to perform at the annual festival in Seaclose Park on Sunday, June 16, 2019 but pulled out moments before she was due to go on stage.
It came just hours after she took to the stage at the Spice Girls World Tour in London on Saturday, June 15, 2019, as Geri Horner, Mel B, Emma Bunton and Melanie C’s supporting act.
An Isle of Wight Festival spokesperson said Jess was “physically exhausted” and “extremely frustrated” to not have performed.
The statement on the festival’s official Twitter page, read: “Jess had every intention of performing today at Isle of Wight.
“However as the show got closer it became apparent that she was physically exhausted after a very intense last few weeks of touring.
“As a result we took the decision to cancel the show. Jess is extremely frustrated and apologises to all her fans but ultimately her health must come first.”
Reports later emerged claiming the singer partied until 7.00am with the Spice Girls before pulling out of the gig.
John Giddings, the Isle of Wight Festival organiser, has revealed the songstress will “never” be invited back to the event after dropping out 10 minutes before her set.
Speaking to The Mirror, he said: “She will never be booked to play the Isle of Wight again.
“It shows no regards for people that bought a ticket.
“It’s so sad that an artist would do that to their fans. She’s let them down.”
In 2013 Jess provided the vocals for DJ Route 94’s track My Love.
The song featured on Annie Mac’s compilation album Annie Mac Presents.
After hearing the track, the band Clean Bandit asked Jess to collaborate with them.
She sang on their 2014 tracks Rather Be and Real Love and soon after released her debut solo single Right Here.
In 2015 Jess released her debut solo album I Cry When I Laugh.
This included tow UK number one singles Hold My Hand and Don’t Be So Hard On Yourself.
She also featured on Tinie Tempah’s chart topping track Not Letting Go in 2015.
In 2018 Jess collaborated on Rudimental’s track These Days which also features Macklemore and Dan Caplen.
The video shows Jess and Macklemore seeming to fall in and out of love as they walk around Shoreditch in London.
In 2017 The Sun exclusively revealed that Ed Sheeran had written two songs for Jess.
The tracks Thursday and Woman Like Me are set to appear on Jess’ second album.
A music source said: “After the success Jess enjoyed with her first album, she has been able to pick and choose who she works with but was delighted that Ed came on board.
“His offerings are set to be major components of Jess’s album — his songwriting and her distinctive sound are a perfect fit.”
