A FORMER soldier opened fire on a courthouse in Dallas today before being shot dead by cops.
Brian Issack Clyde, 22, was carrying a high-powered rifle and five 30-round magazines when he was killed in a shootout with police.
The FBI has confirmed Clyde is a US Army veteran who was discharged in 2017 – but the motive for the attack remains unclear.
Footage shows the moment Clyde sprayed bullets outside the Earle Cabell Federal Courthouse on Monday before he was killed.
A dramatic image of the shooter shows how he was wearing a balaclava, tactical gear and a vest.
No one else was injured in the shooting at 8.50am on Monday.
One witness, Don Myles, told KTVT he was walking into the courthouse when a group of people ran out and he heard about 10 to 15 gunshots in rapid succession.
He said he turned and ran across the street to safety.
“It was just a whole lot of shots going on,” Mr Myles said. “It scared me to death.”
Another witness, Herman Turner, told KTVT that the gunman was wearing fatigues and his face was covered by a mask.
US Attorney Erin Nealy Cox said that 300 federal workers were inside during the shooting.
Bizarre posts on a Facebook page believed to belong to the shooter reveal his fascination with weapons and apparent revenge.
On Saturday, Clyde shared a photo of a variety of ammunition magazine, writing they would “stop almost anything.”
On Sunday — less than 24 hours before he stormed the courthouse — he posted another image of a dagger with the caption: “A modern gladius to defend the modern Republic.”
In an ominous candlelit video from June 9, Clyde warned of an approaching battle in a video captioned “This storm is about to pay for kicking me off my porch.”
“I don’t know how much longer I have, but the f—ing storm is coming. However I’m not without defense,” he said while brandishing what appeared to be a gun. “I’m f—ing ready,” he continued. “Let’s do it.”
