BAKERY chain Greggs has added some spice to its menu with a new Cajun chicken bake.
The savoury pastry delight includes shredded Cajun style chicken breast in a spiced tomato sauce with onions and peppers and paprika crumb topping.
The new bake costs £1.50 and has 432 calories – but it won’t be around for long as it’s only on the menu until September 1.
Fans of the bakery chain have said the new addition is a “game changer”.
One customer on Twitter said: “Greggs producing the goods with the Cajun chicken bake”, while another added: “Greggs doing bits with Cajun chicken bake”.
Previously Greggs sold a Cajun chicken flatbread.
Fans of the new bake can buy them at Iceland too, where they are selling two for £2.
Cajun spices are usually made up of paprika, garlic powder, oregano, thyme, onion powder, cayenne pepper, black pepper, salt and red pepper flakes, although recipes do vary.
At least Greggs is adding a bit of heat to the summer with rain and colder-than-normal temperatures across much of the UK.
Earlier this year Greggs launched a vegan sausage roll, which has helped boost sales across its 1,650 branches.
Also an ex-Greggs worker revealed what it’s like to work at the chain, including the AMAZING staff discount.
