MONDAY’S downpours meant soft ground around the country on Tuesday, but there were some decent fields and competitive action.
However, there were still some nice performances and we’ve picked out some snippets you may have missed.
2.45 Salisbury – Tapisserie
The William Haggas-trained filly cost 130,000gns as a yearling and connections will be hopeful she can start to repay that fee in the coming months.
She had shaped with plenty of promise in her first two appearances, finishing second on each occasion, but she was clinical on her third outing under Ryan Moore.
She breezed clear to win by three and three quarter lengths and she will have her sights raised now.
4.45 Salisbury – Loving Your Work
Kieran O’Neill gave Ken Cunningham-Brown’s runner an absolute peach.
The 33-1 shot was produced to lead around a furlong from home, but he immediately began to wander around.
He was briefly headed by the 15-8 jolly Singing The Blues, but O’Neill used all his might to get the eight-year-old back in front in the final stride for a short-head success.
3.00 Lingfield – Caspian Queen
Keep an eye out for Richard Hughes’ two-year-old when she next takes to the track.
She was punted off the boards (50-1 into 9-2) ahead of her debut, but a slow start and a lack of experience caught her out.
She still shaped with plenty of promise in fifth place and is surely a winner waiting to happen.
