TOTTENHAM are eyeing a summer swoop for Lyon’s Tanguy Ndombele, hailed as the new N’Golo Kante.
Reports in Portugal claim Spurs are favourites to sign Sporting Lisbon ace Bruno Fernandes ahead of Manchester United and Liverpool.
But SunSport understands the Ndombele deal is much more likely.
Spurs want to bolster their midfield after not making a signing in the previous two windows.
They have monitored Ndombele since he burst on to the scene at Amiens.
The 22-year-old then impressed for Lyon, who offered him a new deal.
But he told Le Progres: “I’ve told my agents and the club I’m not fixed and have not made a decision.”
Lyon want £70million, although Tottenham think they could get him for nearer £50m.
His arrival could see Eric Dier and Victor Wanyama leave as they refresh their midfield.
Portuguese paper Record reported yesterday that Tottenham also want Fernandes.
It claimed they are close to completing a £70m deal after talks with agent Miguel Pinho in London.
Fernandes is a possible replacement for Christian Eriksen although the deal does not depend on whether the Dane leaves.
Spurs are also eyeing Real Betis playmaker Giovani Lo Celso, Bournemouth’s Callum Wilson and David
Brooks and Fulham’s Ryan Sessegnon.
Keeper Michel Vorm has been released but 17-year-old striker Kion Etete has joined from Notts County.
