CORONATION Street star Lisa George has confirmed Katie McGlynn is leaving the soap – weeks after Katie denied it.
The actress – who plays machinist Beth Tinker in the ITV soap – spoke about how much she is going to miss her on-screen niece Katie when she leaves the soap at the end of her contract.
Asked on the red carpet about how she felt about Katie leaving, Lisa said: “I’m devastated!”
Katie recently insisted she hadn’t quit the show, but did not deny she would be leaving.
She tweeted: “I have not ‘quit’ Corrie, I am contracted well into this year and am fully committed to our long-running storyline.
“We do not know the outcome as of yet, which is how we like it!”
Actor Rob Mallard, who plays Katie’s on-screen husband Daniel Osbourne, exclusively told the Sun Online how his character won’t be able to cope without Sinead when Katie does leave.
He said: “I don’t think he would do well at all.
“He’s one of those people who thinks there’s only one person out there for everyone and if you can find them then lose them then that’s it.
“He’s very dramatic, isn’t he?
“He needs to give his head a wobble.”
Fans are terrified Sinead will suffer a relapse and be killed off in tragic scenes later this year and leave Daniel and their baby Bertie behind.
