REALITY queen Charlotte Crosby made the decision to have her breast implants removed after she experienced searing pains in her chest – and was left fearing her life could be in danger.
The 29-year-old is now finally happy with her body and her boyfriend Josh Ritchie loves her natural B cup boobs – but she still has to wait until her wounds heal to have a breast scan to rule out anything sinister.
Speaking exclusively to The Sun Online just two and half weeks after going under the knife, terrified Charlotte revealed she knew she had to go to doctor after being left in agony.
“I was experiencing some really bad shooting pains and dull aches in my left breast,” she told us.
“I went to the doctor and they said it was the beginning of something which means your body is rejecting the implant so it’s not something that happens instantly, it happens gradually over time.”
She continued: “He felt around the area and said there was a lot of inflammation in there.The breast itself was feeling really hot.
“He said to be safe and not sorry that he would really like me to go and get a screening as well just to rule out everything and in case there was anything else wrong with it.”
Fortunately doctors acted quickly before the breast implants caused any further damage – in some cases it can causes scar tissues to grow around the implant which will leave them deformed.
But Charlotte will have to wait until her surgery has healed so she can have the scan and proper breast screening to get the all clear.
She told us: “My mam was worried sick.
“She still is really worried and can’t wait for me to have the proper screening. She just wanted the implants out.
“I heard that when you have implants it’s actually harder to feel for lumps like that. Breast cancer lumps can go unnoticed.”
Charlotte admits she completely regrets going under the knife and getting the implants in the first place and says she much prefers her natural body before surgery.
Initially Charlotte decided to get surgery in 2017 to correct her congenital symmastia – the so-called ‘uniboob’ where breasts merge across the breastbone – and had implants at the same time.
However, she is delighted they are out, saying: “I just feel so much better in myself.
“I had the op two years ago to correct a condition I’ve got called congenital symmastia. I got the implants at the same time not knowing this could happen. I kind of regretted the implants for a long time so it’s a huge sense of relief.
“I wish I had never gone ahead with it in the first place. I wish I had just had the symmastia fixed.”
Charlotte’s boobs are currently still healing with tape covering the wounds – for the next two months she will have to wear a special bra, which she compares to a brace on your teeth, to help correct the symmastia.
Charlotte’s plastic surgeon Mr Hassan, from Elite Surgical, explained: “It is important for any patient considering cosmetic surgery to do their research and make sure that they consider carefully the short and longer term implications of any surgery.
“We would advise patients to seek a thorough consultation with an accredited plastic surgeon who is on the GMC specialist register for plastic surgery and is a member of BAPRAS.
“Having breast implants means that a patient will inevitably require further surgery in the future such as breast implant replacement and perhaps breast uplift surgery with the inevitable scars.
“Symmastia is a recognised condition that can be congenital or acquired from the over dissection of the breast pocket such that the inner integrity of the breasts are compromised causing the appearance of no gaps between the breasts/”kissing breasts”/”uniboob”.
“The surgery to try and repair this deformity is a complex procedure with a relatively low success rate long term which is all the more reason to ensure a patient chooses the right surgeon.”
And she couldn’t be happier – especially because boyfriend Josh loves her new look and his love and support has helped Charlotte finally accept herself and love her own body.
She said: “When I first showed Josh the boobs he said ‘they are so cute and little’, which was a good response.
And as she looks to the future Charlotte is gearing up to take things to the next level with Josh, which will be documented in the third series of her reality show, The Charlotte Show.
“I am in the best place ever. I am like a new me,” the star said.
“I am finally back to myself. I prefer my natural body. I was crazy to ever get those implants in. I am back to my natural normal boobs.
“My boyfriend completely loves them. But I think he would love me no matter what, which makes me even happier.
“I have come to the stage now where it is what it is. I don’t think there’s any need in constantly wanting to be another person.
“I think having the implants out has made me realise that when I look back I was perfect without them. I have accepted who I am.”
