IAN Watson admits he may take a leaf out of Jurgen Klopp’s book by haring down the Anfield touchline – even though he is a big Manchester United fan.
The Salford boss has taken to standing at pitch level during matches so he can feel more of them while many of his contemporaries sit up in the stands.
On Sunday, when the Red Devils face Hull KR, he will occupy the Liverpool manager’s dugout as they are technically the home team at Magic Weekend.
And after seeing some of Klopp’s exuberant goal celebrations, Watson may follow suit.
He said: “Jurgen Klopp is very visual, isn’t he? You see what he’s like on that touchline.
“I try and be a little bit more reserved and generally I’m not too bad. I feel more comfortable there as a former player and a former half-back, I can gauge things better.
“We’ll be in Jurgen Klopp’s dugout at Magic Weekend, you might see me running down the touchline!
“I used to go watching United with my dad all the time but as I grew up, I didn’t go as much.
“I’ve only ever been to Anfield once when I was young and my father took me. Now I’m just embroiled in the rugby as that’s the best sport.
“But Anfield has a prestige about it. You think of the Shankly era and some of the players who’ve played there like Ian Rush and Kenny Dalglish.
“They’re football legends and you look at what they’re doing under Klopp at the moment, competing for titles. Liverpool have that prestige as a big football club.”
SunSport understands the record sponsorship deal with Betfred until 2021 that was announced in the run up to Magic Weekend is worth £1.3 million a year.
