LIVERPOOL striker Roberto Firmino has given Liverpool a major boost ahead of their Champions League final against Tottenham on June 1.
The 27-year-old has been spotted training with the squad in Marbella as Jurgen Klopp’s men prepare to face Spurs at the Wanda Metropolitano next month.
Firmino hasn’t featured for the Reds since May 1 when Liverpool lost 3-0 against Barcelona in the Champions League semi-final first leg.
The Brazilian forward has been battling a thigh injury, with Divock Origi having to step in for the ex-Hoffenheim ace in his absence.
But he could be set to feature against Spurs after being put through his paces by the club’s strength and rehabilitation assistant David Ridings, as well as physio Sven Kampmann.
Liverpool are currently in Marbella as part of a warm weather training camp as they eye their sixth European Cup – and first since 2005.
Jurgen Klopp revealed after the 2-0 win against Wolves on the final game of the Premier League season that he was confident Firmino would return in time.
He said: “We have time before the final and that should be enough.”
Firmino – who was recently named in Brazil’s Copa America squad for this summer – has banged in 16 goals in 47 games this campaign.
The North Londoners will jet off to Madrid a few days before the final so the squad can get used to the conditions.
