A VICAR who appeared on Jeremy Kyle with Romanian toyboy has today defended the show, saying the staff “couldn’t be nicer”.
Philip Clements, 80, went on the programme with 25-year-old model Florin Marin last year after The Sun Online revealed their relationship.
The pair were quizzed about the age gap and Florin was grilled over claims he is a gold digger and had taken advantage of the retired vicar.
But Mr Clements, from Sandwich, Kent, jumped to the show’s defence after it was axed following the suspected suicide of guest Steve Dymond.
He said staff working on the “looked after them” and were “so courteous, including Jeremy”.
He told KentOnline: “I’ve got no complaints about the way we were treated. They looked after us from beginning to end.
“We were put in touch with Jackie, a production assistant. She couldn’t have been nicer. She was always accessible.
“You don’t see Jeremy until he comes on stage for the recording.
They were just so courteous to us, including Jeremy

“We were assured that there would be people to give any sort of counselling.
“We knew that the assistants were around if we wanted to talk to anybody but we didn’t need to.
“They were just so courteous to us, including Jeremy.”
The married couple had faced wide criticism after it was revealed Mr Clements had sold his £215,000 home in Sandwich, Kent, to buy a flat in Bucharest in Romania, where Mr Marin is originally from.
Kyle challegend Florin on the show and asked point blank: “Why did you marry him?”
Florin laughed off the accusations, immediately replying: “Because I love him.”
Addressing those who had criticised his relationship with the elderly vicar, Florin said he would tell people to “mind their own business”.
He added: “They don’t know me, they don’t know us.”
EVERY 90 minutes in the UK a life is lost to suicide.
It doesn’t discriminate, touching the lives of people in every corner of society – from the homeless and unemployed to builders and doctors, reality stars and footballers.
It’s the biggest killer of people under the age of 35, more deadly than cancer and car crashes.
And men are three times more likely to take their own life than women.
Yet it’s rarely spoken of, a taboo that threatens to continue its deadly rampage unless we all stop and take notice, now.
That is why The Sun launched the You’re Not Alone campaign.
The aim is that by sharing practical advice, raising awareness and breaking down the barriers people face when talking about their mental health, we can all do our bit to help save lives.
Let’s all vow to ask for help when we need it, and listen out for others… You’re Not Alone.
If you, or anyone you know, needs help dealing with mental health problems, the following organisations provide support:
He also maintained he hadn’t known that Mr Clements would be buying a house in his name when they got together.
The pair got married in April 2017 but announced they had split just four months later.
They are now in a long-distance relationship are will house hunt together in August.
It comes after The Sun today exclusively revealed ITV’s biggest daytime show has been axed permanently after 14 years.
Staff now feel they’ve been “hung out to dry” and are upset at receiving no aftercare.
Mr Dymond, 63, appeared on the show in a bid to prove his innocence after he was accused of being unfaithful by girlfriend, Jane Callaghan.
But he failed a lie-detector test and the couple split shortly after the recording. Ten days later, he took his own life.
