LEEDS chief Victor Orta has won over his fans once again – by placing scarves on the Elland Road seats ahead of tonight’s clash with Derby.
The director of football came under criticism last season as the team struggled but he has now become a cult hero in the city.
Orta was snapped walking along the rows of the stadium today making the final preparations with every home fan to be given a free scarf.
And Whites supporters flooded in with messages praising the boss for his efforts.
Jack Priestley said: “Victor orta putting scarves out himself today, I f***ing love our football club.”
He then tweeted Orta directly to say: “I love you.”
Another added: “HIS club, THIS man, THIS stadium, its all in our blood. Nothing can stop us MOT.”
Cal Tolson wrote: “World class.”
Another added: “Some misjudged him as a person, but he was also guilty of a lot of mistakes too.
“Ultimately he evidently cares a lot tho & does everything he can with the available resources, which is all you can ask.
“Some signings like Klich turned out good after all too (when used correctly).”
Some said “top class” and “nice touch,” while @ScholesStuart added: “F***ing love this man, he’s Leeds.”
But one joked: “Haha cuda done with this in February… when I was actually freezing my knickers off.”
Orta also went up in Leeds fans’ estimations this week by allegedly contacting reported Manchester United target Daniel James and told him to hold off on making a decision on his future.
The Swansea winger almost moved to Elland Road in January but a deal fell through – and he is now thought to be wanted by Premier League clubs.
But Orta and Leeds will be hopeful they can convince the Welshman to make the move to Yorkshire this summer.
Leeds know avoiding defeat against Derby tonight will see them heading to Wembley on May 27 for a chance to return to the Premier League.
Aston Villa booked they place with a shootout victory over West Brom last night and Leeds have a 1-0 aggregate lead following Saturday’s first leg.
And as well as the scarves, Leeds will be armed with their hilarious new chant for Derby boss Frank Lampard after his comments on Spygate.
The song, to the tune of Oasis’ ‘Stop Crying Your Heart Out’, went viral on Saturday and will no doubt be sung throughout tonight’s game.
