CHELSEA’S chances of landing Philippe Coutinho have collapsed after PSG star Neymar’s reported intervention.
Brazilian forward Coutinho has had a disastrous 18 months at Barcelona since moving to the Camp Nou for a whopping £145million.
Stamford Bridge looked a likely destination as Coutinho’s agent looks to find a new home this summer.
But French newspaper L’Equipe, via Sport, claim that fellow Brazilian Neymar has begun influencing the transfer with a possible reunion at Paris Saint-Germain.
With the two superstars forming a strong bond in the Brazilian national team, Neymar could help grease the wheels for a move to Parc des Princes.
Coutinho is expected to drop further down the pecking order should he stay at Barcelona this summer.
Antoine Griezmann announced his imminent departure from Atletico Madrid, with the Camp Nou his expected destination.
Chelsea are understood to be keen on striking a deal after Maurizio Sarri’s first season at Stamford Bridge.
However, much depends on whether their current transfer ban stands, with Chelsea ready to go to the Court of Arbitration for Sport to overturn it for at least one window.
Club chiefs are hoping to have at least a window to bolster the squad before a ban would kick in.
And with Eden Hazard Madrid-bound in a £100m move to Real, Coutinho was identified at the perfect replacement.
