EMMERDALE star Alexander Lincoln has hit out at a faker using his identity on Twitter – after it emerged his co-stars and bosses were following the impostor’s account.
The actor – who plays Jamie Tate in the ITV soap – was forced to create his on account on the social media platform after it the creepy account started tweeting his co-stars.
Actress Michelle Hardwick, who plays vet Vanessa Woodfield, and Emmerdale boss Kate Brooks follow the faker’s account.
Forced to join Twitter to stop the fake account, he tweeted: “Decided to make a Twitter account to solve the fake account problem. Hello world.”
But weeks after the fake account was discovered, it still remains on Twitter.
Alexander posted a screenshot of the fake account on Instagram yesterday, writing: “Trust the fake Twitter account to have more followers than me.”
The actor recently landed his first television role on the soap, as iconic villain Kim Tate’s son Jamie.
He was tricked into coming to the village by his mother and has made it clear he wants nothing to do with her or her evil schemes.
But Alexander did tell The Sun Online how he may be more like his mother than he cares to admit.
He said when asked about Jamie taking after his mum: “Maybe, who knows? Maybe he’ll go to prison at some point! A little holiday.
“I think with your parents, there’s always certain character traits that you’re going to come back to eventually, so whether he knows it or not, maybe he is manipulative in his own sort of way. But it doesn’t shine through. So potentially.”
Alexander added: “He’s very different, wants to distance himself entirely from the Tate name.
“It’s just about him trying to distance himself from Kim. He doesn’t want to be anything like her, he isn’t anything like her and he wants everyone to know that.”
