CHELSEA did their best to persuade Eden Hazard to stay with an awards double – and it may have done the trick.
The Belgian forward, 28, is being lined up for a £100million switch by Real Madrid.
And after landing the club’s player and goal of the season awards, Hazard was asked if he would sign a new contract.
He replied: “Where’s the pen?”.
Chelsea fans are understandably excited by his response – and questioned why a pen was not handed to him immediately.
One tweeted: “Man asked for a pen.. Give him a freaking pen..”
While another added: “The torture continues.”
However, a less optimistic supporter bemoaned: “He’ll give us another year , he’ll save Real £100 million & earn twice as much by signing next summer”.
After his win, Hazard said: “My relationship with the fans has been really good since I came here.
“It’s always a pleasure to play at Stamford Bridge in front of the fans. That’s why I am on the pitch.
“When we play for such a great club like Chelsea at the end of the season you want to win something.
“Now we have that opportunity. We will go to Baku all together with the fans and we will be back with the trophy.”
Callum Hudson-Odoi won the young player’s gong, while Conor Gallagher was named the best academy star.
Erin Cuthbert won the women’s prize, with Sophie Ingle taking the player’s player title.
