DEAR DEIDRE: MY girlfriend suffers from anorexia and is going away to a special centre to help her get better.
She said that it will only be for a few weeks but I am scared how I will cope without her.
I am an 18-year-old guy. My girlfriend is 17.
We have been together just over a year. She has said that I can go with her mum and dad to visit her while she recovers, and that she might get home leave.
But I am really scared about what is going to happen.
DEIDRE SAYS: Your girlfriend sounds as though she may be very ill.
She and her family are clearly trying to make it as easy as possible for you two to stay in touch, so are your real fears over whether she is going to get better?
Anorexia is a dangerous illness. You can help by telling her how much you care for the real inner her, not her appearance.
My e-leaflet on Eating Disorders explains more and see beateatingdisorders.org.uk.
