MEGHAN Markle and Prince Harry presented their child to the world today and carried on a 70-year tradition with the reveal.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex wrapped their precious new arrival in a white GH Hurt & Son blanket, a brand which has been used for all new babies since the Queen first gave birth.
Traditionally new little royals are wrapped in the shawl, and G. H Hurt director Richard Taylor revealed Meghan and Prince Harry selected it for the reveal today.
Speaking to Fabulous Digital, Richard said: “All the staff here at G. H Hurt & Son were delighted to see the Royal couple emerge at Windsor Castle today, to present their newborn son, wrapped in our traditional hand finished shawl.
“The shawl used is our ‘Leaves and Flowers Baby Shawl’, in white.”
The company revealed that the £105 shawl is made from soft merino wool, and each shawl is lovingly produced at their factory in Nottingham.
Richard added: “We feel so proud and honoured that Harry and Meghan have chosen our beautiful merino wool lacy knitted baby shawls and in doing so have continued a royal tradition now going back over 70 years.”
They also confirmed Baby Sussex’s hat is also from their collection, and appears to be the £64 cashmere option.
Th traditon dates back to 1948 when the Queen and her husband Prince Philip presented Prince Charles to the world.
Since then the designer has provided the snug blanket for the royal family’s newborns, including Kate Middleton using the brand for Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis.
And poignantly when Prince William and Prince Harry were born, parents Prince Charles and Princess Diana followed suit and also used the same company.

As with any of the outfits that Meghan Markle or Kate Middleton wear, sales of the sweet shawl boom any time it is used for the third baby.
Director of GH Hurt & Son, Gillian Taylor, said following the birth of Princess Charlotte: “Overnight we have seen dramatic increase in demand for this product from around the world.
“We were honoured that people from across the UK and around the world, the USA, Japan and Australia wanted to buy the same shawl.
“All of our customers were wonderful and patient. We had great feedback, that it’s a beautiful shawl and worth a short wait.”

Meghan’s mum Doria Ragland, who is said to be “overjoyed” by the arrival of her first grandchild, is currently staying with the couple.
Sun doctor Carol Cooper had said previously it was more likely Meghan will have opted for a caesarean because of her age as she warned about the dangers of older mums giving birth.
Meghan’s dad, Thomas, who has been frozen out by Meghan, spoke of his pride at the birth of the baby – his sixth grandson.
