THE Duke and Duchess of Sussex have finally welcomed their first child into the world and it’s a boy!
But when was he born, what will he be called and when will he be introduced to the rest of the world? We tell you all the details about the newest member of the royal family.
Meghan gave birth at 5.26am on May 6 weighing 7lbs 6oz.
Prince Harry’s announcement from outside their home of Frogmore Cottage suggests Meghan gave birth in their home on the Windsor Estate.
The 37-year-old’s mum Doria was by her side after The Sun revealed she flew over to the UK last month to meet her first grandchild.
Prince Harry said on the day his son was born outside his home: “It’s been the most amazing experience I could ever have possibly imagined.
“How any woman does what they do is beyond comprehension. But we’re both absolutely thrilled.
“We’re both absolutely thrilled and so grateful for all the love and support from everybody out there, it’s been amazing, so we just wanted to share this with everybody.”
The Duke of Sussex, who was present for the birth, added: “I’m so incredibly proud of my wife.”
“And as every father and parent would say, your baby is absolutely amazing.
“But this little thing is absolutely to die for so I’m absolutely over the moon.”
Meghan’s mum Doria Ragland, who is said to be “overjoyed” by the arrival of her first grandchild, is currently staying with the couple.
The 62-year-old is said to have landed in Britain last month well before Meghan was due to give birth.
Sources close to the family have said that Doria wanted to be by her daughter’s side for the event – especially as Meghan, 37, is classed as a “geriatric mum”.
Meghan and Harry beamed today as they introduced their “amazing” baby boy to the world – but teased us by not revealing his name.
The new parents appeared tired but ecstatic as they cradled the newborn, with giddy bearded dad Harry joking his son “already has facial hair”.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s low key announcement at Windsor Castle is in stark contrast to Kate Middleton and Prince William’s baby reveals that saw hundreds of photographers snap pictures of their three children hours after they were born.
And they kept their little boy swaddled in a white blanket and hat as they described their as of yet unnamed little boy.
Where the baby boy was born will be revealed in the birth certificate – which must be completed within 42 days of the birth.
New mum Meghan, 37, stunned in a white dress that bared her arms as she stood by grinning new dad Prince Harry, 34, who cradled their little boy.
She gushed over life after welcoming her little boy, saying: “It’s magic.
“It’s pretty amazing. I have the best two guys in the world, so I’m really happy.”
And she said the baby boy, who is just two days old, already had the “sweetest temperament” – adding “he’s the dream”.
Prince Harry said they were still thinking about names.
Harry is still expected to carry out an engagement at The Hague on Thursday to launch the one-year countdown to the Invictus Games, his Paralympic-style event for injured service personnel.
Kensington Palace announced the news on its official Twitter page.
The message read: “Their Royal Highnesses The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are very pleased to announce that The Duchess of Sussex is expecting a baby in the spring of 2019.
“Their Royal Highnesses have appreciated all of the support they have received from people around the world since their wedding in May and are delighted to be able to share this happy news with the public.”
Meghan Markle’s mum Doria Ragland then released a statement through Kensington Palace saying she was “very happy” and “looking forward to welcoming her first grandchild”.
When asked if Meghan’s dad Thomas had been made aware of the news the Palace responded with “no comment.”
Kensington Palace announced the name of Prince Louis in a press release.
They put out a tweet saying: “The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are delighted to announce that they have named their son Louis Arthur Charles.
“The baby will be known as His Royal Highness Prince Louis of Cambridge.”
It is expected that Harry and Meghan’s baby’s name will be announced in the same way.
