ANTE-POST favourite Austrian School has been handed stall five as he gets set for a crack at Chester Cup glory.
Mark Johnston’s stayer bolted up by six lengths on his last start at Musselburgh and looks to have plenty more to give over the marathon trips.
Austrian School is one of 17 declared.
He will be joined by stablemates Making Miracles, Watersmeet and Lucky Deal as Johnston looks to win the race for the first time.
The weights are headed by last year’s winner Magic Circle but he is likely to head for Thursday’s Ormonde Stakes.
His trainer Ian Williams also has Speedo Boy, Shabeeb and Time To Study in the mix.
Irish maestro Willie Mullins has Low Sun and Whiskey Sour entered, with top jockey Ryan Moore booked to ride the former.
Last year’s second and third, Fun Mac and Who Dares Wins, are back for more with Andrew Balding saddling 2017 winner Montaly and Cleonte.
Cliffs Of Doneen, Busy Street and Mirsaale complete the field.
