CARDBOARD cutouts of police vehicles could soon be used to deter car crime and speeding.
Brit cops want to try the models, which come with flashing lights, after learning of their success in Turkey.
They wrote on Twitter: “We were told they’re productive in slowing drivers. They are often seen along with real cars that have officers in.”
The Nottingham officers have asked the public for their views.
They already use cutouts of bobbies to successfully deter theft in shops and other places.
Local police tsar Paddy Tipping said: “The cardboard cars are an interesting idea. We’ll have a look at them.”
Notts Chief Con Craig Guildford agreed: “It’s an interesting idea but I’d have to see the evidence first to be convinced.
“But I like cutout coppers. I think they work.”
