A MURDER probe has been launched after the bodies of two women were discovered in a home in Canning Town.
Cops were scrambled to the house in East London at 11.45am on Friday over concerns for an occupant’s “welfare” when they made the grisly discovery.
They believe the bodies are female and will carry out post-mortems in due course to establish how they died.
There have been no arrests and cops are now working on identifying the victims.
North-East Command Unit Commander Detective Chief Superintendent Richard Tucker said: “The launch of any murder investigation is naturally of concern to the local community and we have borough officers in the area supporting colleagues from the Homicide and Major Crime Command as they investigate the full circumstances.
“A crime scene is in place and we would encourage anyone with information about what may have happened at this premises to contact police on 101, quoting CAD 4303/26APR.”
The double murder comes as violent crime continues to grip London – with the two deaths believed to be the 42nd and 43rd in the capital so far in 2019.
The UK’s grisly murder rate is also at its highest level for over a decade with 732 homicides in 2018 – 607 of which were murders.
The number hasn’t been this high since murders totalled 661 in the year up to March 2008.
