LINE Of Duty fans are convinced that Lisa McQueen is an undercover cop sent in by Hastings – who wanted John Corbett to be killed for revenge.
Lisa [Rochenda Sandall] turned on John [Stephen Graham] during last night’s episode after the undercover cop, who was trying to expose police corruption, tried to leave the organisation of criminals he was running.
As he lay bleeding on the floor, gang member Lisa leaned over him and snarled: “You’re a rat John, a rat” after he was caught out.
But Line of Duty fans were sceptical that she’s a villain and believe she is in fact a puppet for Hastings (Adrian Dunbar), who was left furious after his estranged wife was beaten up by Corbett.
In last night’s episode Hastings was seen visiting OCG member Lee Banks (Alastair Natkiel) at Blackthorn Prison.
While we didn’t get to hear what they were discussing, one theory is that he told him that Corbett was an undercover cop and Lee than passed the news on to Lisa.
Hastings was hell bent on revenge after his wife was cruelly beaten and fans thinks Hastings was even seen to give the order during a chat exchange with Lisa – when he told her to “close the deal”.
Taking to Twitter to voice their opinions, with one person writing: “Lisa is working undercover for Hastings. He spelt ‘definitely’ wrong so she knew it was him giving the order to ‘bring this to a close’. #lineofduty.”
Another said: “Too early in the series for it to be that cut and dried! Reckon Lisa is under cover too, maybe working for AC-12/Hastings? #LineOfDuty”
A third commented: “Mmm I’m now thinking that Hastings has something that he’s not telling people like Lisa is his undercover cop in this organised crime to seek out “H”#LineofDuty”
And a fourth said:”#LineOfDuty Hastings went to see that bloke in jail to tell him that John was the rat. He then passed it on to Lisa. Revenge for beating up his wife. H is not Hastings.”
Stephen Graham is the latest in a long line of big names to be bumped off at the hands of show writer Jed Mercurio, who was also the brains behind BBC hit Bodyguard.
In the five series the show has been on the Beeb, he has killed off huge British stars including Keeley Hawes, 43, Jason Watkins, 52, Daniel Mays, 41, Lennie James, 53, and Gina McKee, 55.
The series, which is pulling around eight million viewers an episode, follows the work of police anti-corruption unit AC-12, run by a shadowy figure who goes by the codename H.
