A SLAUGHTERED teen was fined for wasting police time after she reported her stalker ex-boyfriend before he slit her throat.
Shana Grice, 19, went to cops five times in six months because of Michael Lane but was “treated like a criminal” and forced to pay a £90 fine.
She was murdered in 2016 in Brighton by the monster, who slashed her throat in her bedroom before trying to burn her body.
Lane was caged for 25 years in 2017 and Sussex Police have now confirmed some of the officers involved in her case would be facing disciplinary action over her death.
Shana’s parents, Sharon Grice and Richard Green, said: “Our daughter took her concerns to the police and instead of being protected was treated like a criminal. She paid for the police’s lack of training, care and poor attitude with her life.
“It’s only right that the police make changes, but it’s too little, too late for Shana.
“Sussex Police should not be applauded for this.
“Instead we would encourage people to reflect on why they’re making these changes. A young girl went to them for protection and ended up murdered in her own home by the very person she’d asked the police to protect her from.”
A damning report issued yesterday found two Sussex Police officers, who have now retired, will face gross misconduct hearings and another will face internal misconduct proceedings in private.
No further action will be taken by five others officers investigated by the Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC), while six have been given “management advice and further training”.
The force claims they have “significantly improved our response” since Shana’s brutal murder, adding they “may not have done the best we could”.
Shana’s family are now considering legal action against the force once the misconduct proceedings have taken place.
It came as they faced further criticism for how they have dealt with stalking victims – including Michelle Savage, who was murdered last year by her ex-husband.
The 32-year-old spoke to Sussex Police three times – including a call eight days before she died saying she feared for her life.
Former soldier Craig went on to murder her alongside her 53-year-old mother Heather Whitbread in an execution-style killing at almost point-blank range in St Leonards on March 16 last year.
Sarah Green, co-director of the End Violence Against Women Coalition, said: “Numerous inquests and inquiries have found that multiple police forces have failed to protect women who were murdered.
“There is a massive failing in police leadership on domestic and sexual violence which is not simply about cuts.
“The Home Secretary should call time on the promises to do better and require improvement or removal of leaders in forces where women are not being protected.”
