JUSTIN Bieber has only just announced an extended break from music, but he’s not planning to let anyone replace him as pop royalty in the meantime.
He has hit out at fellow Canadian Shawn Mendes after the In My Blood singer posted a snap of himself on a magazine cover headlined “Prince of Pop”.
Justin responded on Instagram: “Hmm. Gonna have to break a few more records to dethrone my title there, bud.”
He also challenged him to an ice hockey match for the title, but said Shawn probably wouldn’t win because he’s “a real bender on the ice” – meaning he is bad at skating.
There was already tension between the pair after Shawn’s model ex-girlfriend Hailey Baldwin wed Justin only four months after they split.
A fortnight ago Justin announced he was taking time away from making his next album to repair “some of the deep- rooted issues that I have”.

But after facing a backlash for attacking Shawn yesterday, he hastily insisted he was joking.
In another comment he added: “There is no competition and it was a playful joke people, relax. I’m just as competitive as is he, so it was a little playful jargon.”

MEL C has dropped the biggest suggestion yet that the Spice Girls won’t be doing a world tour.
She has announced a series of solo gigs this summer, just days after their reunion finishes.
Reports at the weekend claimed the band’s tour had been “abandoned” following the row caused by Mel B’s claims about a lesbian fling with Geri Horner. But their representative labelled the world tour’s axing an “untrue” rumour.
Mel C and LGBTQ club night Sink The Pink will play in Brazil on June 21 – six days after the Spice Girls’ last date in London. It will then take in Amsterdam, Stockholm, Brighton, Belfast and Dublin.

RICHARD Madden is worried his buff body is presenting an “unrealistic body image” to fans.
The hunky Scot, stripped off for his roles in BBC1’s Bodyguard as Sgt David Budd, and as Robb Stark in Game Of Thrones.
He told Vogue magazine: “We’re projecting a very unrealistic body image. I find myself with actor friends, after we’ve done a kind of barely eating, working-out-twice-a-day, no-carbing thing for these scenes, looking at each other going, ‘We’re just feeding this same s**t that we’re against.’”
He went on to explain – and rightly so – that it’s not just women who feel pressure to lose weight, insisting it happens to men “all the time”.
Richard even says he’s going to be taking his top off less in future if producers cannot justify why his character needs to, saying: “If they can’t – which they often can’t – then I won’t.”
As a man who also has a fine figure, mainly thanks to beer and Greggs pasties, I share his sentiments.
