THE Rolling Stones have postponed their tour of America and Canada so that Mick Jagger can receive medical treatment.
The band, which also includes Ronnie Wood, Keith Richards and Charlie Watts, announced Saturday that the 75-year-old frontman was told by doctors “he cannot go on tour at this time”.
A statement shared on the band’s Twitter page added that the rocker “is expected to make a complete recovery so that he can get back on stage as soon as possible.”
Sir Mick followed up the announcement with a separate message to fans and said he hates letting them down but he’s “looking forward to getting back on stage as soon as I can.”
He wrote on Twitter on Saturday afternoon: “I’m so sorry to all our fans in America & Canada with tickets. I really hate letting you down like this.
“I’m devastated for having to postpone the tour but I will be working very hard to be back on stage as soon as I can.
“Once again, huge apologies to everyone.”
The band’s full statement said: “Unfortunately today the Rolling Stones have had to announce the postponement of their upcoming US / Canada tour dates – we apologise for any inconvenience this causes those who have tickets to shows but wish to reassure fans to hold onto these existing tickets.”
It went on to assure fans that Sir Mick would return to performing in due course and after he makes a full recovery.
It said: “Mick has been advised by doctors that he cannot go on tour at this time, as he needs medical treatment.
“The doctors have advised Mick that he is expected to make a complete recovery so that he can get back on stage as soon as possible.”
No more details about his condition were provided.
Tour promoters AEG Presents and Concerts West advised ticketholders to hold on to their existing tickets and confirmed that they will be valid for the rescheduled dates.
Mick, worth an estimated £275million, has eight children including Karis, 47, Jade, 46, Elizabeth, 34, James, 33, Georgia, 26, Gabriel, 20, Lucas, 19, and 21-month-old son Deveraux.

The rocker has been seeing Melanie Hamrick since 2014, following the death of his long-term partner L’Wren Scott earlier that year.
And Sir Mick is said to be ‘fully committed’ to bringing up their child Deveraux.
Last year, the Stones kicked off their No Filter tour in the UK and Europe.
