MALIN Andersson has spoken of the “trauma” and “darkness” she’s experienced ahead of Mother’s Day.
The Love Island star tragically lost her own mother and baby daughter within the past year.
In an open-letter penned for OK! online, the 26-year-old detailed how she wished she was spending Mother’s Day “in an ideal world” with her late mother and daughter Consy.
Malin told how she responds to questions about Mother’s Day plans by giggling and explaining that her mother died from cancer.
She added: “I always seem to laugh when I hide my emotions. Me laughing really means I’m dying inside.
“And as I process the question of how I’m celebrating Mother’s day, I also ask myself if I was ever a mother myself.”
Malin opened up: “Just like me, I know there are other mothers who will be facing darkness on Mothering Sunday. Women are out there feeling alone. I salute anyone that has lost their mother, or daughter.
“The strength you need to overcome such trauma is tremendous. You need every bit of bone in you to survive the grief and heartache.”
On New Year’s Day 2019, Malin revealed that she had given birth to her daughter prematurely, just before Christmas.
Her baby girl, named Consy after her mother, was born seven weeks earlier than it was supposed to.
About a month later, on January 23, 2019, Malin shared the heartbreaking news that she had lost her prematurely born daughter.
