THE Lowry Hotel axed bookings at their luxury restaurant on Friday night – so the entire Manchester United squad could celebrate Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s full-time appointment.
On evening before a big game, United normally occupy a floor of the hotel and a private dining room.
But last night, they opted to eat in the main restaurant for a change after checking in ahead of their clash at home to Watford.
That meant the Lowry Hotel were forced to turn away diners on Friday night to accommodate their celebrity guests.
Not only were walk-in diners turned away, but many who’d made reservations were forced to be cancelled on at the last minute.
It was a far cry from their usual pre-match routine, where they have their own food prepared by their own chefs.
But in celebrating the good news surrounding Solskjaer, they changed their pre-match procedure for the first time ever.
A source claims the manager himself ordered everyone to be turned away due to unforeseen circumstances so that United’s wish could be granted.
The restaurant chefs were also caught completely off-guard, having never cooked for the squad before.
In another first, United‘s players were allowed to pick their own food – as the feel-good atmosphere at Old Trafford continued to roar on.
Meanwhile, there’s more good news for United after Marcus Rashford edged closer to putting pen to paper on a new five-year, £150,00-a-week contract.
Rashford’s current contract expires next summer and he has been linked with a move to Real Madrid in the coming months.
However, Rashford is one of a handful of stars to look resurgent in life after Jose Mourinho, with Solskjaer leading the club forward.
