A NINE-FOOT alligator gave golfers the fright of their lives after the enormous reptile casually strolled across the green.
The incident happened on the 17th green at The Club at Savannah Harbor in Georgia, US – with the gator immediately halting play before it went back into the pond.
Just last month, an alligator weighing in at 50 stone was found in the same state – with its chest measuring a whopping 57 inches.
Ed Vance – who captured the moment on camera – described the animal as a “monster” in the clip he uploaded on social media.
Speaking to Island Packet, the Savannah local said: “We all looked at each other and were asking what is that noise.
“At first, I thought it was the maintenance crew on the other side of the brush cutting it back or something.”
Before adding: “I will always remember the sound of his feet when he was walking on the green.
“The video doesn’t pick it up, but the ‘thud, thud, thud’ sound was what you would think a dinosaur sounds like. It was surreal.”
Commenting on the video, one person tweeted: “Now this makes golf more interesting.”
Another quipped: “Wouldn’t bother me as I’m never on the fairway.”
One simply stated: “He is still faster than half the lads on the PGA Tour.”
It’s not uncommon for alligators to wander across golf courses – with infamous gator Chubbs a permanent member of the Buffalo Creek Golf Course in Florida.
