DEAR DEIDRE: MY boyfriend dropped the bombshell that our long-distance relationship was over when my visa was in the post and my flight to Australia booked.
He’s 25 and I’m 24. He sent me a message a month ago saying he was leaving the pub and would FaceTime me soon. We FaceTimed every day. But he never called. I called him, but no reply.
My boyfriend broke up with me just after I bought a plane ticket to move abroad to be with him[/caption]
In the morning I got a “hi babe” call as usual. I was furious. He said he’d fallen asleep when he got home.
To me that meant someone else was with him. I said I’d forgive him if he’d had a quick fling but he still denied it.
It did make me doubt moving out there but I just wanted his reassurance.
Now I can’t believe he would throw all we had away.
DEIDRE SAYS: Your reaction when he didn’t call shows there was already a gulf between you.
It’s heart-breaking to have him end the relationship so late in the day, but it’s better than you getting out there and then finding out you didn’t have a future.
My e-leaflet Moving On will help.
