WE ALL know we should be aiming for eight hours of shut eye a night, but have you ever wondered how some of your mates survive less sleep than you?
The answer why could be written in the stars, according to Bed Threads.
The bedding company analysed how many hours each star sign needs to feel fresh in the morning, with an Aries thriving on just six – and a Taurus needing a solid nine.
Here’s where your star sign fits in…
Driven, passionate and ambitious, most Aries see sleep as a waste of time.
They can survive on just six hours-a-night – giving them more time to achieve their goals.
Tauruses are notoriously loyal, reliable and pragmatic.
But they can also get a bad rap for being self-indulgent and among those indulgences comes a love of sleep – up to nine hours, to be exact.
Bed Threads explain: “Don’t be surprised if a Taurus likes to sprawl out in bed for up to nine hours of an evening. It’s their happy place.”
The sign of the twins has a hard time finding balance – meaning a Gemini’s sleep cycle can vary massively from day-to-day.
One day, they might feel fresh-faced on six hours, but the next they will collapse into bed and sleep for hours.
Bed Threads add: “Geminis also love to nap. It’s these little moments of shut-eye that can keep them powering forward.”
Cancers are known for being emotional and sensitive – and they need their kip to help balance out all those emotions.
There’s nothing a cancer loves more than a cosy bed.
Aim for at least eight hours, with the odd lie-in thrown in for good measure.
Sociable Leos love being around people, even when they’re sleeping.
Bed Threads explain: “A Leo sleeps best when they’re not on their own in the bed, whether it’s spooning their partner or curled up with a best friend.”
If they’ve got company, a Leo will drift into a deep sleep – and will only need seven or eight hours.
Perfectionist Virgos see sleep as a barrier to getting things done.
They’re also prone to anxiety, which can see them tossing and turning when they try to catch some zzzz’s.
A Virgo can survive on six hours’ kip, but ideally need more.
Those under the Libra zodiac are total people-pleasers.
As a friend, they’ll be the best listener and the one you turn to, but they can only help in they’re caught up on sleep.
Aim for seven to eight hours to recharge – and make sure you’re back at your best.
Scorpios can be quite intense characters – they’re passionate, jealous, opinionated and courageous all wrapped into one.
They can find it hard to get to sleep – and when they do drift off they have very vivid dreams.
Scorpios work through their emotions at night, so aim for eight hours if you can.
A Sagittarius has mixed needs when it comes to sleep.
If they’re planning a big project at work, or on the holiday of a lifetime, they can survive on just five or six hours – as sleep is low on the list of priorities.
But they crave routine the rest of the time and eight hours of kip is ideal.
Capricorns are a very regimented breed, but they’re not content with simply getting eight hours’ sleep.
They crave routine – functioning best with a strict bedtime and their alarm going off at the same time every morning.
Of all the star signs, Aquariuses find it hardest to switch off.
These independent, intelligent folk can easily function on just six hours of kip – but perform best when they get seven or eight.
They tend to be morning people, meaning they’re up and about early to get things done.
Pisces are the dreamer sign, so it’s hardly surprising they love their sleep.
