Promoter Hearn and Matchroom Boxing launched a lawsuit against Paul in September 2022 over comments the American made about a fight judge.
Hearn was accused of paying Glen Feldman to score bouts in favour of Katie Taylor against Amanda Serrano and Anthony Joshua in his rematch with Oleksandr Usyk.
Serrano was in the MVP (Most Valuable Promotions) team, which Paul co-founded with Nakis Bidarian in 2021.
A court judge has denied Paul’s motion to dismiss the defamation case.
The lawsuit is now due to proceed, starting with a court date in little more than a fortnight’s time.
Hearn is suing for damages of more than $100m (£75m).Meanwhile, Paul is also getting ready for a potential onslaught from Tyson early in next month’s controversial bout.
The 31-year age gap has raised eyebrows.
And Paul, who has a 10-1 record, warned the Baddest Man on The Planet he’ll get a shock if he tries to finish the contest quickly.
He told the Daily Mail: “I could definitely see him trying to [go for an early KO], but he’ll find out very quickly that I also have a ton of power.”
But in a promo video, Tyson’s team claimed the ex-world champion was preparing to “throw not just one bomb” but “missile after missile”.
They added: “If the fight were today, Jake Paul would be done.”
