KYREN WILSON admits he went “a little bit off the rails” following his Crucible triumph.
But following the “high” of winning a first trophy this new season, the Warrior is fully focused on proving to everybody that he is a deserving world snooker champion.
The Northamptonshire cueist heads to Riyadh this week – for the inaugural Saudi Arabia Snooker Masters – off the back of winning the £177,000 Xi’an Grand Prix in China.
Wilson, 32, has revealed he took his eye off the balls when he lifted a maiden world title in May, putting down the cue and taking time out for family and pleasure.
A 6-0 thumping by Zhou Yuelong last month in the Last 16 of the Shanghai Masters was a terrible start.
Yet he says he is recommitted to the hours of practice and is buckling down for the season ahead.
The world No.3 – who has been dealing with family health issues in the UK – said: “After the World Championship, I have constantly tried to search for that high.
“I’ve gone a little bit off the rails, which is not like me really. You have to reign it when you can.
“I was searching for the wrong high if that makes sense. Now I’m turning my attention to more snooker tournaments. This has given me that high.
“It’s hard. I have dreamed of being a world champion since I was six years old.

“I absolutely reached my boyhood dream and the pinnacle of our sport but I’m still so young in terms of the tour.
“There is so much more to give and so much more I want to give. I absolutely love this game.”
