Jamie Donley’s outstanding form in front of goal continues, with the attacking midfielder’s 63rd-minute strike giving Leyton Orient all three points against Shrewsbury.
Given how well things are going for Donley at Orient over the last month, it is easy to forget how poorly his loan spell began, with the attacking midfielder even being left out of the matchday squads on a couple of occasions early in the season.
However, the 19-year-old has battled back and has now made himself one of the first names on the League One side’s teamsheet. Donley continues to contribute regularly, especially making the difference in the final third over the past few weeks.
On Sunday, the Spurs academy graduate scored his fourth in five league games, with the goal taking the O’s to their fifth straight league win and up to eight in the table.
It was a tightly contested affair at Brisbane Road, with the away side defending resolutely with men behind the ball all game.
The breakthrough eventually came in the 63rd minute, with Donley making a smart run and showing impressive strength to hold on to the defender, before squeezing a ball through the goalkeeper’s near post from an extremely tight angle.

Donley’s brilliant performances of late have garnered praise from his Orient boss, Richie Wellens, who credited the teenager for the way he has bounced back after a difficult start to the season.
Speaking to the League One club’s YouTube channel last week, Wellens said about the Spurs midfielder: “Donley, I have to say, I take my hat off to him, I am so proud of him, the way he has come through the difficult time.
“I questioned him, and I put it on him a little bit to show some resilience, and he has come through that with flying colours. So, the fact that I can get him and [Ethan] Galbraith in the team, is a massive help for us.”
