Tottenham Hotspur have received a big blow in their pursuit of a Bundesliga marksman, who is reportedly now the subject of an offer from Manchester City.
Omar Marmoush’s outstanding numbers for Eintracht Frankfurt this season are simply impossible to ignore, with the striker emerging as one of the most prolific number nines in Europe.
The 25-year-old, who can also operate on either flank, has scored 18 times and provided 12 assists across all competitions so far this season.
Unsurprisingly, several Premier League sides are thought to be keeping an eye on Omar Marmoush, with Tottenham repeatedly being credited with an interest in the forward.
Foot Mercato have now also confirmed that a number of English sides have expressed an interest in the Frankfurt star, naming Arsenal, Spurs, Liverpool and City as sides who have explored a move.
The outlet reveals that Pep Guardiola’s men have now stepped forward with an opening offer for Marmoush, but the value of the bid is not revealed.
However, the publication does add that the forward has already spoken to the City hierarchy and is ‘very excited’ about the idea of joining the Premier League champions.
Marmoush was always going to attract the interest of the elite clubs in Europe and Spurs never really stood a chance of winning the race for him, given that they cannot offer Champions League football to the Egyptian.
It would be very surprising if the forward remains at Frankfurt at the end of the transfer window and it looks like he will be a City player over the coming weeks if Guardiola’s men can agree a fee with the Bundesliga side.
